Holmes Place

It’s been two years I moved to Berlin and I’ve tested ~10 different gym studios including several units of Holmes Place, but also John Reed and other smaller studios. This unit of HP was the best I could find. The facilities are spacious, clean and members are respectful with each other. I feel very welcome at the gym and it makes a difference to keep me motivated for a healthy routine. Sometimes it gets busy during the evening and mornings are much calmer. Thanks for this unit’s staff, from cleaning, reception, personal trainers, management, you are doing a great work. Recommend!

It‘s a good gym in terms of options but they need to improve the cleanliness/machine service. There is dust on a lot of the machinery surfaces. Particularly the rowing machines need cleaning out as the ‚resistance‘ isn‘t working properly due to too much dust in the roter mechanism preventing the air escaping. This is pretty basic stuff for a gym and I would expect more from one at this price. Also would be nice if they had rubber matting for the free weights section…

One of my favourite places to relax whenever I’m in Berlin! The swimming pool, unisex saunas, fully equipped gym, and overall positive energy always make me feel welcome. I usually spend around 3–4 hours here, starting with a gym session and finishing the day with a cold shower after an infusion sauna experience. I can highly recommend Holmes Place every time. Good installations -BUT- there’s no proper floor cleaning during the day in the sauna hall (always dirty and flooded) and in « men’s » toilet and showers. I think men’s toilets at this Holmes Place are one of the stinkiest place in Berlin, even Berghain’s ones smell better. Maybe the Direction is trying to attract some new customers with specific kinks? The rest room in the sauna stinks like your roommate’s shoes arriving to Santiago de Compostela.

I’ve been a Holmes Place member for almost two years, and unfortunately my experience has been quite disappointing. The club is constantly overcrowded — often to the point where it’s difficult to find available equipment or even use the locker room comfortably. On top of that, there were several “misunderstandings” regarding services and cancellation. Instead of clear communication and a smooth process, I ended up spending unnecessary time and energy clarifying things that should have been straightforward. My membership is now ending, and I won’t be extending it. Unfortunately, Holmes Place has done everything to make that decision very easy for me. If you have an Urban Sports Club subscription, this place is totally fine to visit occasionally — but based on my experience I don’t recommend buying their membership, and, especially, additional services. It’s simply not worth it.

Spacious and well equipped with self-service facilities and a café that operates daily, including weekends. Showers in the locker rooms are very nice and you also benefit from a long list of classes such as HIIT workouts and Reformer Pilates.

I pay to have access to all the holmes place gyms, one - the one I go most - didn’t have hot water for almost one month, I asked to be reimbursed for that month and their reply was: ‚but you didn’t entered the gym those weeks‘ of course I didn’t if every time I go I read at entrance that they have no hot water, should I take cold shower in Autumn? Bad service. And I went on an other to swim in that period, but the pool is in manutention for almost a month! I am very disappointed, the place is nice, the structures too… but the service doesn’t worth the price… in Hasenheide half of the lockers are always broken, and my card was stolen in the shower twice…
